    • You're both correct and wrong. They share the same DNA, but their Mitochondrial DNA is infact different. Mitochondrial is DNA passed on to the kid from the mom. A fertilized egg will have Mom's mitochondrial DNA, half of Mom's nuclear DNA, and half of Dad's nuclear DNA. When the fertilized egg splits into two, the twins will each have identical nuclear DNA, but not exactly the same identical mitochondrial DNA.

      • Thank you Allie :) I vaugely remembered learning about people who have two sets of dna so some mom almost got her kids taken away because her dna, depending where they took the sample, didn't match her kids.

        • It's referred to as Chimera, after the Greek mythological creature. Basically as a set of twins starts to develop, one set of cells folds over the other set of cells. The single mass developes into one person that will have 2 sets of DNA.
