hahaha... i live next to newark. there's nothing quite like the smell of newark in the summertime. i say it's all those mafia bodies rotting in the river. if you don't fly into newark, and don't take the turnpike from the top to say, exit 12, it actually doesn't smell anywhere else. it's all trees and nature and whatnot. but nature smells too. don't go near the wetlands. swammpiiieee...
