Aside from the fact that im drinking wine straight from the bottle to save doing dishes, im also standing in front of the oven to save turning on the heater. its gonna be a rough winter.

ummm...that's kinda dangerous; plus, it's probably more efficient to turn the heat on anyway...
plus op's a dumbass .... put on a damn flannel or something, its so cal it doesnt get cold enough to need a heater

It's going to be and expensive winter too, if you plan on using the oven as a form of heat...
Leaving the oven on is gunna be more expensive than turning on the heat
Sorry to be the asshole that points this out slammin, but just because the area's SoCal it doesn't mean they live there. They could've gone away to school in Buffalo or something.
also, they could be cooking in the oven rather than using it to heat the house
