Pipes, bowls, dutches, chillums and other phallically shaped pieces are always boys. Bongs, however, are ladies and should be treated as such.
Try to find a name before a gender. I have a boring chillum that took on interesting color and reminded me of life of pi, so it's called Pi, so it's a boy. Chicken/egg type thing.
