What difference does it make how 'podunk' the Dakotas are?..\nI'm going to hope and assume that this text was a joke, but the stupidity of the idea that places in South Dakota wouldn't accept Visa isn't negated by it's being 'podunk'.

i unfortunately live in south dakota because my husband is stationed here haha. they do take visa, but let me know if you actually find something to do to actually use it...

Ha Ha, I'm pretty sure I sent this text. By the way, the joke was not that South Dakota was so shitty and redneck that they actually might not take Visa, it was that that was all I was packing. Though after having been there I like your interpretation better. But that bit about not taking morons, hysterical. I really thought for a moment that the whole of Rapid City was some sort of large scale facility for downs syndrome because 100% of the people I met were freaking retarded.
Also, anyone who's talking bad about Iowa has never been to Iowa City. We've got one of the best writing programs and best hospitals in the country. Jazz Fest, Art Fest, and free concerts every Friday night during the summer. Iowa City is an oasis in a cultural desert and the antithesis of podunk. The closest thing to culture I saw in SD was crappy souvenir shops.
