    oh yeah- everyone in the world was saying fuck detroit when it shut down the auto industry to support world war two. Auto industry in detroit bailed out the world- Glad our loyalty is now too the Japs- who we tought how to make automobiles. Awesome.

    Don't hate on Detroit. If you have not been there you sould not say anything bad about it. Plenty of U.S. cities have negative things about them and bad areas, Detroit is no exception. Detroit has a wonderful number of Museums, Theaters, and various other venues that are considered part of the cities cultural identity. Also noteworthy about Detroit, the Detroit Red Wings hold the North American record for the most consecutive post-season appearinces (18),

    1:21, AMEN! Kid Rock keeps changing his music and eventually we all see through that act too so he moves on to the next one. Eminem, bless his heart, hops on and off the wagon so much they had to cripple the mule so he could keep up. The White Stripes....I ain't touchin' that one....but Alice has been doing the same badass "vaudvillain" acts since the last sixties and people still can't get enough. Detroit's like any other music scene, or society in general. It has its cultural hits and misses.

    Downtown Detroit is very nice. I travel there often. Place is amazing during the baseball and hockey seasons.

    Hey Canadian at 5:31, Detroit is one of the biggest shitholes I've ever been to, and I've been to almost every big and mid-sized city in the US. The city blows, many of the people are asscans (though they don't deserve suffering from the recession as much as they have), and the their sports teams are unlikeable.

    @12:40- do you really think that everyone who has a nice life elsewhere has Detroit to thank? Yeah, no. It's not like any city carries the weight of an entire country on it's back, especially not Detroit. It's only economic contribution was the automobile industry, which is dying because we just can't produce cars at the same level of efficiency as other countries. And as for your cultural significance- yeah I've never envenvied eight mile, which is the only cultural reference I can think of
